Body Measurement Feature - ZALANDO

Product overview

Zalando is the first company at its scale to introduce a body measurement
feature to assist customers in finding the right size. Customers in the DACH
region will be able to receive size advice based on their unique measurements
by just taking two pictures of themselves.
This new feature has the potential to further reduce size-related returns and
decrease textile waste in the long run by educating brands about their
customers’ needs.

Problem Statement

Online fashion shoppers often struggle with inconsistent sizing across brands, leading to high return rates and customer frustrations.
As one-third of Zalando’s returns are size-related, this issue negatively
impacts customer experience, increase carbon emissions, leading to textile
waste dues to frequent shipping and returns.

Solution

  • Zalando introduced personalized size recommendations based on a users’
    body measurements.

  • Customers upload two pictures of themselves (front and side) while wearing tight clothing, and the system predicts their measurements using advanced algorithms and machine learning helping them find the right size for their fashion purchase.

Online Mobile Banking - Co-operative Bank

Product Overview

Co-operative Bank of Kenya has launched an improved online banking platform that makes it easy and secure for customers to manage their money anytime, anywhere. The platform is available on both web and mobile, offering a smooth and personalized banking experience for individuals and businesses.

Problem Statement

Many customers struggle with long queues, limited branch access, and inconvenient banking hours. These challenges reduce customer satisfaction and limit access to financial services, especially in remote areas.

Solution

The new online banking platform gives customers a fast, easy, and secure way to:

  • Check balances and view transactions

  • Send money and pay bills

  • Buy airtime and schedule payments

  • Apply for loans and savings products

  • Get real-time alerts and updates

With strong security and user-friendly design, the platform boosts financial access and makes everyday banking simpler for all.

Your Size Filter Feature

Zalando's "Your Size Filter" (YSF), now renamed “Recommended sizes,” was redesigned to address declining usage and improve the shopping experience. The update clarifies filter functionality, resolves user confusion, and makes it easier to switch between personalized size recommendations and manual filters. Instead of permanently deactivating YSF, size filters now act as a temporary override, with radio buttons emphasizing their mutually exclusive nature for better usability.

Size Recommendations

Inconsistent sizing in the fashion industry causes customer frustration and drives one-third of Zalando’s returns. To address this, Zalando uses advanced technologies like machine learning and computer vision to offer personalized size recommendations. These are based on customers’ purchase history, return reasons, fit feedback, and body measurements. Shoppers can even upload two photos to receive size suggestions tailored to their exact measurements, helping reduce returns and waste while improving the shopping experience.

Size Flags

Zalando’s new “Size Flags” feature offers clear, data-driven size recommendations like “size up” or “size down” to tackle inconsistent sizing and reduce returns. By analyzing product measurements, return reasons, and customer feedback, the algorithm helps shoppers find the right fit. With one-third of returns being size-related, this tool enhances customer satisfaction, reduces waste, and promotes more sustainable shopping.
